Actor Antwon Tanner spoke with the Recorder about the importance of the celebrity basketball game.
Is this your first celebrity basketball game?
Antwon Tanner: No I come every year. I’ve been coming here since 1997.
Why do you like to be a part of something like this?
It’s uplifting for our community, it’s black and it’s the biggest expo in the country. Its one weekend out of every year and there’s like 80,000 to 100,000 black people that are here. There’s really no violence, all the parties are cool and the whole message that the Indiana Black Expo is doing for the kids, it’s something good that somebody of my stature needs to come back and give back to the community and support.
What upcoming things can we expect to see from you?
Well I’m about to do a new TV show called “Black Jesus”. It’s myself, Slink Johnson, De’Aundre Bonds, and Charlie Murphy. We’re all doing a new comedy show. I have a show I just wrote that we’re about to start shooting called “Epidemic” and I’m doing another movie with Samuel L. Jackson called “The Leash”.
