Sandorf Park to undergo renovation

Sandorf Park will receive a makeover as part of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) “Parks Build Community” initiative. Indy Parks and NRPA chose Sandorf Park, 2020 Dawson St., because it needs improvement and is next to Frederick Douglass School 19.

NRPA will have their annual conference in September. The conference will bring parks professionals from across the country to Indianapolis. NRPA chooses a park to transform as part of the conference.

The transformation of Sandorf Park is part of Indianapolis Parks Foundation’s strategic plan to use parks and public spaces to improve quality of life and build community.

“Not only is NRPA giving us a platform to showcase our city and state parks, greenspaces, and trails, they are helping us transform Sandorf Park into a perfect play space for children and their families,” Linda Broadfoot, Indy Parks director, said.
