More by this author

The Black Student Union at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is organizing a water collection to send clean drinking water to residents of Flint, Michigan, where a state of emergency has been declared over contaminated water.

“Since Gov. Rick Snyder has made an attempt at genocide via lead poisoning, we will counteract his indifference with love,” the group wrote on the Facebook page announcing the event.Ā

The group is collecting cases of bottled water, individual bottles of water and jugs of waterĀ from Monday, Jan. 25 through Friday, Jan. 29 in Joseph T. Taylor Hall in Suite 100 in the Black Student Union advisor’s office.

Those waters will be delivered to the Walker Theatre as a designated drop-off point to then be delivered directly to Flint.Ā
