American Heart Association Seeks "Real Women. Real Change."Nominees

More by this author

The American Heart Association (AHA) is seeking nominations for the second annual “Real Women. Real Change.” program, presented by UnitedHealthcare.

Women who have made positive changes to lead a heart-healthy lifestyle can be nominated for the program at www.IndyGoesRed.org. Ten women will be selected as semifinalists, and an online vote will determine three winners who will represent the AHA at Go Red For Women events in 2015 and receive a red dress from Macy’s (up to $250 in value). The remaining seven semifinalists will each receive a $50 Macy’s gift card.

The winners will serve as local ambassadors for Go Red For Women, helping to raise awareness that 1 in 3 women die from heart disease and stroke, and empowering women to take charge of their heart health. The women will participate in events including the Red Dress Dash and the Go Red For Women Celebration, and will be featured in local media efforts.

“Heart disease is a silent killer, but up to 80 percent of heart disease is preventable by making small changes to lead a heart-healthy lifestyle,” said Dan Krajnovich, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of Indiana and a member of the AHA’s Indianapolis board of directors. “UnitedHealthcare honors the real, everyday women in Indiana who are doing positive things for their heart health and the health of their families.”

Nominations can be made online through Nov. 1 at IndyGoesRed.org. A committee composed of Go Red For Women volunteers will select the 10 semifinalists, who will be announced in November.

Complete program details, nomination forms and more information about “Real Women, Real Change.” can be found at www.IndyGoesRed.org.
