One-day women’s conference to provide ‘tools for success’

The Indiana Chapter of the Women’s International Network of Utility Professionals (WiNUP) is planning a professional development conference and networking event for women this fall in Indianapolis.

The conference, themed “Tools For Success,” will be held Monday, Oct. 19, at the offices of Indiana Electric Cooperatives and Wabash Valley Power Association, located at 720 N. High School Road, Indianapolis. The event, sponsored by Indianapolis Power & Light Company and the law firm of Parr Richey Obremskey Frandsen & Patterson, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Several sessions will be geared toward females working in male-dominated industries, such as utilities. Those from all disciplines will enjoy this day-long event filled with keynote presentations and panel discussions on topics such as female leadership, mentoring, finding your passion, changes in the utility industry and much more!

Speakers include Caroline Dowd-Higgins, well-known career development coach and author of “This is Notthe Career I Ordered,” and Marietta Stalcup, CEO of iEvolve, LLC. Joan Soller, director of resource planning at Indianapolis Power & Light Company; Claudia Earls, chief counsel at NiSource; and Jennifer Richardson,regional director at Midwest Independent System Operator, will serve on the “Women in Utilities” panel. The “Life Lessons” panel will feature Lena Morris, training specialist at Indiana Electric Cooperatives and founder of

Momentum Kingdom Ministries; and Andrea Pactor, associate director of the Women’s Philanthropy Institute at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about WiNUP, the organization planning the conference.
