News In Brief

Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and Indianapolis Education Association (IEA) will hold the 33rd annual Multicultural Festival 11 a.m.-4 p.m. May 18 at Lafayette Square Mall, 3919 Lafayette Road. The event is free.

Students will present school-based projects and performances that showcase this year’s theme, “Celebrating, Honoring, Embracing Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.” Spoken word, ethnic music, literacy, poetry and theater are just a few ways students will combine culture and creativity with academics.

IPS schools, innovative schools and local community organizations such as the Center for Black Literature and Culture, Liberia Foundation, Indiana Association of Chinese-Americans and International Marketplace Coalition will provide information and resources.
