WASHINGTON— Twenty-five greater-Indianapolis Schools have been selected to receive library resources from the Pitney Bowes Foundation and Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) that will include a unique collection of 75 free lending library books.

The schools will each be provided with bookplates, a free-standing bookshelf, and a resource kit with suggested activities to help them and their students get maximum benefit from their libraries.

The Pitney Bowes Foundation and RIF have created a lending library of books with a communications theme. The collection includes both fiction and nonfiction books, and they are appropriate for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. The themes in the collection range from examples of great communicators, such as Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Sojourner Truth, and features different tools and forms of communication.

“The support from the Pitney Bowes Foundation and RIF truly helps further our core initiatives of improving literacy and education at schools all across the city,” said Kathy Ramey, RIF Coordinator at the Indianapolis Public Schools. “By providing these free reading resources to our students, it gives them the opportunity to engage themselves in reading practices that can ultimately lead them down a successful path.”

“At Pitney Bowes, we firmly believe that literacy and education are critical elements that empower children to lead successful lives,” said Juanita James, chief marketing and communications officer, Pitney Bowes and board member of RIF. “Through these partnerships with RIF and donations to schools throughout Indianapolis, we help motivate students to read and enhance their educational experience.”
