The new OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA opened Dec. 3 at 5315 N. Lafayette Rd. The two-story, 56,000 square-foot YMCA features an indoor pool, track, gymnasium, playing fields. The Pike YMCA closed Nov. 30. It’s the first Y in the nation to provide medical services to veterans. A Salute! sculpture at the entrance to honors military veterans. The fee to join the YMCA will be waived on opening day.

Neighbor Power Indy

The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC) will hold its annual Neighbor Power Indy gathering at 8 a.m. March 9 at Marian University. The year’s theme is “Connecting People and Places.” The event will allow residents to come together to foster relationships with neighbors, inspire change in their communities and celebrate accomplishments. Presenters must attend a planning and information meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, provide flash drive and/or digital copy of your presentation by March 1 and present at the Neighbor Power Indy event.
