Upon her departure, Shannon Williams’ role will be divided into two positions held by José Lusende and Robert Shegog.

“José and Robert are both uniquely qualified to lead the Recorder,” said Williams. “While leaving the newspaper was a very tough decision for me, I am at peace because I know their respective skill sets will only enhance the Recorder.”

Lusende will be vice president of strategy and external relations. Shegog will serve as vice president and COO.

“Replacing an integral person in any environment can be a challenge but I am confident with the transition plan that we have in place,” said Rose Mays, owner of the Recorder as well as Indiana Minority Business Magazine. “The Recorder has had staying power for well over a century and it will continue to be a viable entity in the community for years to come. José’s and Robert’s expertise will help transcend the paper to even greater heights.”

Williams said Lusende’s solid community presence and vast development experience as well as Shegog’s demonstrated history of effectively leading business operations make them the perfect tag-team.

“Not only does the Recorder get highly-qualified leaders in José and Robert, but it also gets two men who are incredibility passionate about preserving the rich legacy of the newspaper.”
