Position: Advertising Sales Executive
The Recorder Media Group is seeking an advertising sales executive to sell advertising and sponsorship packages in three channels — the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper, Indiana Minority Business Magazine, and the Recorder Media Group.
This position is salary plus commission based with income opportunity determined by the sales executive’s ability to find and build advertiser/sponsor relationships and develop and sell customized marketing plans and proposals.

Position: Staff writer
Staff writer has the task of crafting news and feature articles to meet the standards of Recorder Media Group publications. This position requires an individual who can think outside of the box, develop unique story angles, connect with community members, act fast on tight deadlines and showcase supreme interviewing and writing skills. It will also involve communicating and collaborating with other writers.
Summary of essential job functions: Write multiple stories per week for Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper, Indiana Minority Business Magazine and complementary websites. Create and edit weekly videos and photo slideshows for websites, help manage company social media accounts, attend events of the Recorder Media Group as well as select community events, research and stay well versed of local and national news coverage, work with production team to give design and layout direction, develop ideas for publication special sections, promote the wellbeing of minority groups and other duties assigned.
Requirements: Must have bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, new media, English or similar field.

The Indianapolis Recorder, the fourth oldest-surviving African-American newspaper is currently seeking interns to join its team.
Candidates must be enthusiastic, well organized, self-starters and have a willingness to learn.
Internships are available to those in all areas including newsroom, sales, marketing, graphic design and human resources. Daily responsibilities could include writing stories for both online and print, taking photos, managing social media pages, designing graphics for the newspaper, speaking with prospective sales clients and managing our daily administrative tasks. You may also be asked to work special events if needed.
Although the internship is unpaid, selected students are actively engaged in the production of our newspaper and gain hands-on experience. Those looking to receive school credit are welcomed, as well as others who are simply looking for a great learning experience. We ask that candidates be of at least junior status and pursuing a degree related to the position they are seeking.
