INDIANAPOLIS – Marian University will make history again on September 19 when the football team will play its first home game of the third season on home turf—the Pro Turf at St.Vincent Health Field on campus.
The day will feature a lot of “firsts” and the university expects more than 3,000 people will be on hand to witness the many memorable events and cheer the Knights to victory. University officials see the home games as an excellent opportunity to draw attention to its Franciscan sponsorship values and also showcase the campus commitment to environmental stewardship. Carpooling, recycling, a special button sale to fund the purchase of trees from Arbor Day Foundation, and green information stations are just some of the ways students, alumni, and the university’s corporate partners are putting the values into practice.
• Students in Marian University’s Green Life Club, and high school students from Providence Christo Rey school will pick up recycling in the stands at halftime.
• The Green Life Club will collect plastic bottle and jar caps during the week before the game and on game day; individuals will receive a concession stand coupon in exchange for turning in 25 caps.
• The Marian University Booster Club will sell buttons to fund the purchase of campus trees from the Arbor Day Foundation.
• Green information stations for campus visitors will include August Mack Environmental, Hoosier Environmental Council, and the Marian University EcoLab. August Mack’s Zero Impact Events helped advise and coordinate the university’s efforts.
• The university is buying green power for the game.
• All drinks sold will be in recyclable bottles and Ray’s Trash will provide extra recycling bins. All paper products are biodegradable as are trash bags.
To further reinforce its commitment to environmentally sound practices, the university is encouraging all visitors who want to tailgate to bring propane grills only, as the use of charcoal grills on campus is prohibited.

Special Traffic Advisory for this game: due to the Indiana Sports Corporation Corporate Challenge cycling event at the Velodrome, northbound traffic on Cold Spring Road will be restricted at 30th Street until noon. Campus visitors with university parking tags are advised to use 38th Street to access Cold Spring Road and enter campus at the north entrance near Allison Mansion. Visitors without parking tags should plan to park at the Lake Sullivan Sports Complex (Velodrome), where shuttles to and from campus are available. Velodrome parking is $5.
Parking and Ticket Information
Game day tickets are $5 per person.
On-campus parking will be available only to those with Marian University parking tags, e.g., students, faculty, and staff or special permits approved by Campus Police. Season tailgating passes are $40 for all four home games. Any car without a Marian University parking pass will be directed to park at the nearby Lake Sullivan Sports Complex. The parking fee is $5 per car. A shuttle service will bring people from the Lake Sullivan Sports Complex to campus and return them after the game.
