Circle Centre mall to host Brown Mackie College learning center

Simon Property Group, the owner of Circle Centre mall in downtown Indianapolis, announced today that Brown Mackie College would be building a 25,000 square feet Learning Center inside of the mall. The center should start offering classes sometime in early October.

Though the university has not announced which classes the Learning Center will host at this time, Elizabeth Ramirez, president of Brown Mackie College Indianapolis, says they expect to host some classes that deal with nursing.

“It’s really amazing to have a learning center here at Circle Centre mall. It’s a great location. We plan to have 21 classrooms here on the fourth floor of the mall,” Ramirez said.

Brown Mackie College offers bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degree, certificate, and diploma programs in health sciences, business, information technology, legal studies, and design technologies.

The main Indianapolis campus of Brown Mackie College, a for-profit college, is located at 1200 N. Meridian St., but because of an increase in the number of students attending the school they felt the need to expand. The mostly vacant fourth floor of Circle Centre served as the perfect place to build a Learning Center.

Simon Malls has participated in educational opportunities in the past. The Simon Youth Foundation helps at-risk youth in Simon Mall communities nationwide to earn high school diplomas and scholarships for college. This isn’t the first time that the Simon Property Group has hosted a college Learning Center in one of their properties.

“We have properties across the country with satellite campuses and now Circle Centre is one of them. It’s really a perfect location. The fourth floor is comfortable and quiet. Students will be energized by the mall’s atmosphere and by downtown Indy,” said Doug Stilton, vice president of leasing for Simon Property Group.

Ashley Stremple, a first-year practical nursing student at Brown Mackie College, believes a Learning Center at the mall would be a good ideal.

“Brown Mackie College really does meet my educational needs. I’m really looking forward to being a part of this program.” She said.
