Take a second to think about what you were doing in 2010 when this decade began.
In school? Going through a difficult time? Just starting your life? Hopefully things are better ā or still going well ā 10 years later.
The end of the decade should be good reason to get out on Dec. 31 and do something in celebration. And you donāt even have to be happy about the 2010s; it would be perfectly fine to use it as an opportunity to bring on the next decade.
If youāre someone who usually stays in, maybe this is a good time to get out and try something new. Not everything on New Yearās Eve is loud partying and drinking.
Below isnāt an exhaustive list of your New Yearās Eve options, but it should be a good starting place.

It can be difficult to find family-friendly New Yearās Eve events where the kids are invited and you donāt have to worry about staying out late into the night. Instead of counting down to midnight, The Childrenās Museum of Indianapolis has a countdown to noon and 1 p.m. Both countdowns will have confetti and feature music from Grammy-nominated Zak Morgan. Attendees can also learn how to say āhappy new yearā in different languages and create a time capsule for 2019.

If you donāt have kids ā or can find a way to ditch them for the night ā the Vogue Theatre has a New Yearās Eve celebration well suited for the 21-and-over crowd. The event features multiple DJs, a balloon drop and open bar, which is included with the $80 ticket.

If youāre looking to ring in the new decade in style, look no further than the Tin Roof. Grab a mask and enjoy live music from DJ VUE and The Armory, along with bottle service and a champagne toast at midnight.

ā¢ Where: Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St.
ā¢ Cost: $16 for non-members, $10 for members, free for children under 3
The Indiana State Museum will host a family-friendly New Yearās Eve celebration with music, dancing, face painting, magic and a chance to explore the museum. There will be a balloon drop in the Great Hall at 8 p.m.
ā¢ When: 9 p.m. Dec. 31- 1 a.m. Jan. 1
ā¢ Where: Epic Ultra Lounge, 8215 Center Run Drive
ā¢ Cost: $15-$20
