The Class of 2012 from Indiana Math and Science Academy West has a lot to celebrate.

In addition to being the inaugural graduating class of their school, they boast a 100 percent graduation rate, and 100 percent college acceptance.

The graduation celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at Butler University in the Reilly Room of the Atherton Union, 704 W. Hampton Drive in Indianapolis. Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett will deliver the keynote address.

IMSA West, managed by Concept Schools, Inc. and located on West 38th Street in Indianapolis, has seen a 22 percent hike in ISTEP passing rates since its founding in 2007. The school has also earned a Grade A: Exemplary rating from the Indiana Department of Education every year since 2008, and is one of only four charter schools in Indianapolis to do so.

ā€œI love our school; itā€™s awesome!ā€ said senior Lovelace Summers, who has been an IMSA West student for all five years. ā€œIt feels like family when Iā€™m here. The dedicated and wonderful teachers at IMSA West have inspired me to become a teacher.ā€

Summers plans to attend Ball State University in the fall to study biology and elementary education.

In a letter to the IMSA West Class of 2012, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels offered his congratulations by writing, ā€œYou stand as a shining example to all Hoosiers through your success and devotion to high standards. That same commitment to excellence will serve you well in other aspects of life in the future.ā€

A reception will be held in the Reilly Room immediately following the graduation ceremony.

Founded in 2007, Indiana Math and Science Academy West is a K-12 tuition free college preparatory school under a charter grant funded by Ball State University. Current enrollment is 537 students. IMSA West is managed by Charter Management Organization (CMO), Concept Schools, Inc.

IMSAā€™s mission is ā€œTo prepare our students for college by creating an effective learning community of higher standards and expectations with a rigorous curriculum focusing on science, math, and technology.ā€
