Mayor announces more appointments to administration

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett announced several more appointments to his administration last week, a day before being sworn into office.

Angela Smith Jones was named deputy mayor for economic development. Jones joins the city from the Indy Chamber, where she served as general counsel and director of public policy.

“The future of Indianapolis hinges on strengthening neighborhoods through quality jobs and smart investment,” said Hogsett. “Jones will use her unique set of skills to promote responsible growth in our community and help foster local innovation.”

Hogsett also announced several other appointments:

Thomas Cook — Chief of Staff

Thomas Cook served as One City Indy transition director and Hogsett for Indianapolis campaign manager. Previously he served as deputy chief of staff for the City of Lawrence and as an aide in the United States Attorney’s Office. Cook is a graduate of Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Fady Qaddoura — City Controller

Fady Qaddoura has a rich professional history in the public and nonprofit sectors with over a decade of experience in public finance and administration. Most recently, Qaddoura worked as a senior manager for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration where he played a role in supporting key projects and initiatives, including the implementation of the Healthy Indiana Plan.

Hope Tribble — Director of Audit and Performance

Hope Tribble has an extensive background in public finance, having worked on fiscal policy at the local, state and federal level. Tribble served in leadership roles at a variety of governmental and nonprofit institutions, including as chief financial officer for USA Track & Field Inc., before opening her own small business to advise businesses and nonprofits on budget and financial procedures.

Andrew Mallon — Corporation Counsel

Andrew Mallon comes to the city from Drewry Simmons Vornehm LLP, where he provided counsel and representation to government agencies across Indiana, including the Marion County Election Board and City-County Council. Mallon previously served as director of the Marion County Election Board and assistant corporation counsel for the City of Indianapolis.

Ahmed Young — Director in the Office of Education Innovation

Ahmed Young began his career in education, teaching for seven years in Indianapolis as well as New York City. After attending Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Young served as deputy prosecutor at the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office before engaging in the private practice of law with a specialization in litigation and education issues.

Timothy Moriarty — Special Counsel to the Mayor

Timothy Moriarty comes to the city from Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, where he worked on complex litigation, municipal law and corporate internal investigations. Moriarty is a graduate of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Taylor Schaffer — Communications Director

Taylor Schaffer began her career in the private sector, working in communications and marketing for clients ranging from non-profit organizations to Fortune 500 Companies. Most recently she worked for Indianapolis-based advertising agency Young & Laramore.

“I am proud these talented professionals have chosen to share their expertise with the City of Indianapolis. Together, they represent decades of valuable experience that will prove crucial as we tackle serious challenges in the days and months ahead,” Hogsett said.
