Chante’ Moore

It seems the whole city is buzzing about the 2014 Women’s Empowerment Series. The series, hosted by Radio One Inc. is poised to be one of the season’s most anticipated events with performances, workshops, and activities for women of all ages and interests. The Recorder chatted with one of the stars of WES 2014, legendary songstress Chante’ Moore.

On R&B Music

My flame for R&B music has never gone out. It’s who I am. I make R&B music, I make love songs. I really believe that R&B Divas is nice because it focuses on women in R&B who are really still current – it helps bring that music to a whole new generation. I think that’s what has been the most rewarding, meeting and reaching out to new people.

On the ‘Reality’ of Reality T.V.

I believe that there has been a lot of speculation on whether or not it was true reality. It’s definitely reality t.v. It’s real! (laughs). That part was a little weird for me, going through each circumstance with the cameras watching is always a very strange thing. I think that for each of us, when we’re in a situation where we feel uncomfortable, put on the spot, or vulnerable it’s a choice that each of us make. Either we respond in a way that’s honorable and reflective of who we really are or something that’s out of character and looks strange. I believe that most of us have chosen to present ourselves well.

On the 2014 Women’s Empowerment Series

This (Women’s Empowerment Series) to me is a wonderful thing! I think that my music is something that has always encouraged and made people feel empowered to know that no matter what, you’re loved. I believe that its so vitally important for women to understand that we have to support one another.
