A solar panel and roofing company coming to Indiana is looking for 80-100 new employees in sales, installation and administration for its Indianapolis-based office, which will open April 1. Powerhome Solar and Roofing will host a job fair with interviews 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 19-21 at what will be its new location, 4496 Saguaro Trail. Those interested can email careers@powerhome.com.
Jayson Waller, CEO of Powerhome, said his company is looking for āhigh-energy folksā to join the new team in Indianapolis because solar energy is a growing business. Powerhome, which launched in 2015 and is headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, is the largest residential rooftop provider of solar energy in Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. The company also has partnerships with the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers to bring solar energy to those NFL teamsā respective stadiums.
āWeāre a growing company,ā Waller said. āā¦ This is where the future is going. Cell phones back in 2001 and 2002 were replacing landlines, and our belief is solar will replace the old way of power.ā
According to Waller, starting wages are from $14 to $19 an hour for installers and $14 to $20 an hour for administrative staff. Sales representatives, who work on commission, earn about $50,000 to $60,000 per year on average. For installers, Waller said candidates donāt need a background in solar energy ā he said the company is open to new-comers, including those coming out of school ā but it would be a bonus to have experience in a related field such as roofing, construction or electrical.
āIf they have a college degree, great, but weāre looking for hard workers here,ā Waller said.
