Indiana Black Expo president Tanya Bell announced, that Indiana Pacers guard George Hill, has been selected to receive the Major Marshall Taylor award at the Circle City Classic Coaches luncheon and serve as the Grand Marshall for the Circle City Classic parade. The luncheon takes place Sept. 25 at the NCAA headquarters, in Indianapolis Indiana.
Hill was chosen due to his exemplary community service and commitment to excellence in the field of athletics.
“George Hill is a model choice for the Major Taylor award, and we are honored to host the Coaches Luncheon at our NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis for the first time”, stated Indiana Black Expo President Tanya Bell.
The Major Taylor award has been presented annually, since 1987, to African American athletes, former athletes, coaches, and athletic administrators who make a significant local and national contribution to youth by exemplifying excellence in their field. Previous recipients of the major Taylor award include Florence Griffith Joyner, Muhammad Ali, Maurice Greene, Tony Dungy, Jerry Rice, Dominique Dawes and Tommie Smith.
